Surfing through related blogs I found this study about gender and age of social media users published by RapLeaf.
This study is based on the data of 49.3 million people from the age of 14 to 74 of which about 90% are US residents. I’d really like to get comparable data for Europe and the other continents. Anyone got the links?
Among other results the study says that:
- each person i the study has an average of 2-3 social network profiles
- “women spend more time on social networks building and nurturing relationships”
- men are less likely to do so as they are transacting
- women and the 14-24 year old are more likely to use Myspace or Facebook
- men and the 25-34 year old are more likely to use LinkedIn and Flickr
The full dataset of this study is available as download on the above linked page too.
