Following the comment discussion from my previous blog “Why use twitter” I emailed Chris Brogan and told him about the differences I see between Europe and the USA. But he couldn’t tell me more about the situation in Europe, so he recommended the following two women to me:
Nicole Simon
… is a German from Lübeck who describes herself as a
“European New Media Specialist with a special interest in blogging, podcasting and second life. I also love to ‘testdrive’ products / concepts which is best described as Technology Implementation Analyst.”
She has a German as well as an English blog (see link above) and will publish a book about twitter in German later this year.
I contacted her on XING but apart from a short message of hers I haven’t got much further than presenting myself yet.
Not so with Chris’ second recommendation:
Stephanie Booth
… is from Lausanne/Switzerland who
“works as a freelance blogging consultant, and is basically interested in anything that has to do with people and the internet” (see her blog http://climbtothestars.org/).
You can read more about her on http://stephanie-booth.com.
After sending Stephanie a contact request on facebook I quickly got in a nice pm-conversation with her. Today we chatted on facebook and among a list of helpful links and tips she gave me, she highly recommended twitter too. She said that I should just give it a try and that with time I’d see what it can do.
I asked her about other PR/social media blogs and she recommended the following to me:
- http://briansolis.com/ (English)
- http://www.krishnade.com/blog/ (English)
- http://b-spirit.com/blog/ (English)
- http://communiquer.ch/ (French)
- http://blogwerk.com/ (German)
Stephanie has also organised a conference for freelancers called Going Solo and she has just started her own newsletter, that I of course subscribed to.
Thanks for you help, Steph!

It was very nice to chat with you too, Annette! I wouldn’t say the blogs I pointed you to were specifically PR or social media oriented, but more “of interest for somebody who is into PR and social media”.
I hope that over the next weeks you end up discovering many more blogs that fit your interests more closely.
FWIW Nicole has been travelling lately, which might explain why you haven’t heard from her yet. She’s @nicolesimon on Twitter, you might have more luck contacting her through that medium!
Hi Steph!
Your tips were a great start for me. I’ve discovered so much since we chatted and it’s still going on! Thanks again for your help!
Btw. Mashable is very interesting too.
